  • Q. What kind of services do you provide?

    A: Sheppard’s Helping Hands provides custodial care services, also known as, the activities of daily living and much more. Our in home care services are to provide assistance with those activities that individuals need help with in order to be able to stay safely in their homes and live with dignity. Our services include, but are not limited to helping with Bathing, Dressing, Toileting, Transferring, Household Chores, Meal Preparation, Grocery Shopping, Transportation, Medication Reminders, Laundry, Companionship, Respite Services , Alzheimer's Care, Post Hospital Stays and more.

  • Q: Where do you provide services?

    A:  Sheppard's Helping Hands provides services in one's home. This may mean that they are living in their own home, a family member's home , or even in an assisted living facility.

  • Q: How quickly can home care services be provided/started?

    A:  We can begin services in 48 hours and many times, the same day.

  • Q: What hours are your caregivers available?

    A:  We are available 24/7 to you and your family. Our goal to be an extension of the family . We are just a phone call away.

  • Q: How do I start home care services with Sheppard's Helping Hands?

    A: Call our office at 803-687-1613 and we will schedule a no obligation visit. This is a time where we can get to know each other better.

  • Q: Will it always be the same person who comes to the house to provide care?

    A: We will always assign a primary caregiver based on the care plan and will strive to have that caregiver on each and every shift. The only time the primary caregiver would not be on shift would be in the event of sickness, injury or scheduled time off.

  • Q: Will I have a choice in who the caregiver that is selected?

    A: Absolutely! We want a caregiver in the home that everyone is comfortable with. Your input is very important to us and the caregiver chosen will be based on your preferences and the skill set necessary to successfully satisfy the care plan. We understand that at times, personalities are not compatible. If this should ever occur, we will gladly send another caregiver. All caregivers undergo a criminal background check, a 10 panel drug test, a driving records check, and must provide 2 positive previous employer references.

  • Q: Does the rate go up if I need overnight or weekend care?

    A: The rate does not change. Days, nights and weekends are the same rate. The only time the rate changes is on scheduled Holidays. A week prior to Holiday, the office will call and notify you. You will have the opportunity to determine if you want service that day or if you want to reschedule.

  • Q. Are your caregivers employees or contract workers?

    A: All of our caregivers are employees of Sheppard's Helping Hands. This means we are responsible for payroll taxes. They are also covered by our worker's compensation and unemployment insurance. You pay Sheppard's Helping Hands directly and are never responsible for any additional charges to the caregiver. We are fully licensed, bonded and insured.

  • Q . What is a CNA?

    A: At Sheppard's Helping Hands, all of our caregivers are Certified Nursing Assistants. They have completed 70 hours of class room training and 20 hours of clinical training. They have also passed the state exam and maintained their continuing education. We feel that this allows us to offer the best care to our clients.

  • Q . Is Sheppard's Helping Hands a Franchise or Chain?

    A: No, we are family owned and operated. We feel that this is very important to maintain our own high standard of business practices and to create more of a family environment.
